These days when music of Bollywood industry is affecting people and considered conventional in India, popularity of Devotional Songs is also not less. Devotional music has proved its popularity by having the business of around Rs. 1 billion a year. After film music, devotional music generates maximum sales and it is expecting to get increase in coming years. Devotional music not only has good physical sales of CD but people are also downloading these songs on mobile.
According to Times Music, devotional music has 30% more sales than any other kind of music and because of this they release out devotional music albums almost every month. Some albums released by Times music are “Krishna forever”, “Living with Sai”, etc.
According to Hindu religion, basic concept of these songs came from Sama Veda. These songs are sung by devotees in a group and have repetition of various words and phrases. It tells us about various glories and acts of Gods and Goddesses that they had in their lives on earth.
Devotional music is the only kind of music about which we can say that it is very compulsory in life. In India, at the time of festivals devotional music is played in every home. Even on regular basis around 90% people in our country listen to these songs in morning. People speak different languages in different parts of India so this music is also available in different languages.
